>> ’Food & myths of the island of music’ Editorial for Ortigia Sound  System Festival 2022
The work focuses on the relationship between human beings (the artists, the audience), food and music; and how it is impossible to separate one's presence in the area from a culinary culture as strong and ancient as the Sicilian one.
Through images, I narrate, investigate, and reveal the morbidity and interdependence between man, land, local culture and food within the scenario of theOrtigia Sound System festival. Meals become a clock that marks time, the soundtrack of everyday life, just as music and its rhythm dictate the dance steps in the colourful context of the festival. The work, therefore, acts as a parallelism, a metaphor ready to reveal how music and food are both phenomena aimed at escapism, a surprise, at a sensory experience that paradoxically, while marking time, ends up cancelling it out. In both cases, one indulges in an intrinsic pleasure, which I’ve aimed to capture in people's faces and gestures through my shots.

Both music and food, in their universal character of intrinsic human needs, contain univocal aspects linked to local culture, history, and the land. Thus, just as the eclectic music of the festival stems from different experiences, stories, and artists with their lived experience, so too does the local cuisine stands as the result of centuries of influences, travels, and dominations.
